Analysis of 3 Idents
I am going to be analysing three different idents.
The first ident that I am going to analyse is an E4 ident. The length of the ident is 20 seconds. The ident is quite complex, as there are some beach huts in the background of the ident, with things that are constantly moving around inside the huts as well as some moving bits of animation at the front of the huts in the ident. In the ident, it begins with a little boat with a animal in that is moving across the screen on the sand. Then the doors of the beach huts in the background open, and things like creatures are moving around in the huts. And E4 logo made out of popcorn then appears in the middle of the screen in between the sand and the beach huts. The design of the ident is sort of rustic and old school at the beach.
The target audience of the ident is both genders male and female ages 16-34. They show this by the use of colours, and the items that are shown in the huts, as these are things that this age range would like. The purpose of the ident is to remind the audience what channel they are watching when they see the ident, and also what sort of genre shows they have on the channel.
The ident reflects the corporate identity of the channel, because they use bright colours which appeals to the target audience, like when they use bright purple blue and red. This is because the audience like these colours and they can associate them with this channel after that. This ident is also unique, and the style that e4 use for their channel which is like animated style type. This ident reflects the channels corporate identity, as it uses the colour purple which connotes to creativity and innovation which relates to the age of the target audience and it includes some alternative and almost comedic props in the ident, which again links to the channels identity is. There is a lot of density of information that it uses lots of props and objects in the ident, which makes the ident look colourful and vibrant, which links to the target audience and what would appeal to them. The screen tempo of this ident is reasonably fast through the use of the play dough running at a high speed which adds to the comedic feel of the ident. There is lack of viewer interaction as there is no voice over however the space and time is set in the future which again adds to the corporate identity of a younger target audience.

The second ident I am going to be analysing is a bbc1 ident. The length of the ident is 36 seconds. The ident is complex, and uses lots of different shots throughout it. The ident begins by showing a boy in a car looking out the window at the rain. You then see some people In different coloured coats cycling on bikes, and you see them cycling through lots of different locations. At the end of the ident they all cycle into a circle which says 'BBC one' in the middle. The design of the ident is complex and is set in London, which is where most of the shows shown on the channel are set too.
The target audience of the ident is 12+. They show this in the ident, as it has elements in that all age ranges would find interesting and enjoy watching.
The purpose of the ident is to show the audience what channel they are watching in between the programmes that are shown. It is also to give an idea to the audience about what shows are actually shown on the channel.
This ident reflects the corporate identity, as it uses the signature circle in the ident, which is what bbc1 are known for using as it links to the corporate identity of bringing people together. Another thing that the ident uses is people of different ages, as there is a young person at the beginning and then older ones throughout. This links to the corporate identity of the channel being for everyone. This ident reflects the corporate identity of the channel, as it uses the circle shape and the colours in the ident which are the ones that are used in the channel and the colour red which is in the identity of the channels ident. The density of information is that there is a lot of objects and people in the ident, which makes it more interesting and gives the audience more things to look at and watch during the ident. The screen tempo of this ident is similar to e4s as the cyclists are travelling at a fast rate this reflects the channels ethos as it is entertaining and interesting to watch for the audience. There is a lack of viewer interaction as there is no voice over on this ident however the space and time is very current which links to bbc1 as it is a PSB (public service broadcaster) creating shows solely for the public.

The last ident I am analysing is a CBeebies ident. The length of this ident is 15 seconds. The ident is pretty simple, as it is just two screens with a bit of movement on the front of the screen. At the beginning of the ident, there is a blue screen and there is a little yellow blob that is moving around on the screen at the front, and then it turns into a pink screen with the same two bloc moving around and bouncing around, Then the CBeebies logo comes in form the top of the screen. The design of the ident is quite cartoony and like animated for children.
The target audience of the ident is children aged 0-4. They show this from the use of the colours blue and pink. This links to the idea of the channel being for both boys and girls.
The purpose of the ident is to show the children the channel they are watching, and remind them of the channel that they are actually for.
The ident reflects the channels corporate identity, as it has lots of colours in and that links to the target audience, which the corporate identity of the channel does aim to do as well. Also, this ident aims to bring the audience together with each other, as it uses the two colours that appeal to both boys and girls. This ident reflects the corporate identity of the channel, as it uses the colours blue and yellow, with pink and yellow, which are colours that the target audience of young children will be appealed to. There isn't many objects in the ident, just the two yellow blobs in the middle of the screen, and this is done as the target audience is young children, and they wouldn't be able to concentrate on lots of things at once, so they only use a few objects. The screen tempo of this ident is fast pace, as the blobs move quickly and at a fast pace. There is viewer interaction on this ident, as the blobs are looking at the people in the audience, which is a form of direct address. The space and time of this ident is uncertain, as it is uncertain when the ident is set as it is animation.
